Glu Mobile

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is a free-to-play role-playing game released on iOS and Android in June 2014. The objective of the game is to become as famous as possible, starting from the E-list and working your way up to the A-list.

Players can either play the game solo or with a friend. The game requires the player to spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day to complete it, but it is not very demanding.

As of December, Glu Mobile's fourth-quarter and full-year 2020 results were released. The developer credited Kim Kardashian for the success of the game, claiming that the celebrity's "resurgence" helped increase the company's profits.

Last year, the company posted $540.5 million in revenue and $20.4 million in net income. Glu Mobile is now on track to surpass those numbers this year.

Glu's partnership with Kim Kardashian's half-sisters

Glu Mobile Inc., a developer of mobile games, announced a partnership with Kim Kardashian's half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner for a new game. The game will feature the half-sisters in the game and is expected to generate at least $85 million in revenue by 2015.

Kendall Jenner is a leading high-fashion model and has appeared in numerous global ad campaigns for major cosmetic lines. She has also appeared in leading fashion and culture publications. Glu's partnership with the half-sisters will give them brand power and social impact. In addition to that, the game will feature Kylie's voice and likeness.

The game is similar to the one that features Kim Kardashian. Players can chat with the sisters on social networks and work towards a career and creative goals. The game is scheduled to launch worldwide by the end of 2015.

Glu's revenue guidance for 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood'

Glu Interactive recently released its quarterly earnings report. In the first quarter, it had 108 million game installs, which is roughly half of what is expected in the second. The company said revenue from the game was between $1.4 and $3.2 million in the first quarter.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood could bring Glu about $15 million in total revenue, but Cowen & Co.'s prophetic track record suggests that the game is unlikely to break even for the full year.

The company's stock price has benefited from Kim Kardashian's success. Shares of Glu hit a 52-week high on July 11th and closed at $6 a share, up 58% from the start of the show. Analysts expect revenue to grow by 45% in the first year, but the company's revenue guidance for the full year has slipped to $20.4 million.

Despite the disappointing earnings report, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood remains an excellent investment.

Glu's strategy for 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood'

While the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game is a rare success story, it is not the only one. Its lackluster performance in the first half of the year could be partly attributed to its limited media presence and older target audience.

The game's lackluster performance was also likely impacted by the fact that Glu was not yet certain of its viability, even as of mid-2016. It is still loss-making and has not produced a profitable quarter since 2015.

Glu's strategy for Kim Kardashian: Keeping an eye on a celebrity's brand and the fanbase is important, and the company's strategy for this game is to reach non-gamers via social media channels.

While Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is free to download, users can also choose to pay a fee for virtual styles, designer clothes, and custom-made makeup. In fact, five percent of Glu's users pay for premium features.
